Canine Therapy for First Responders is a non profit organization dedicated to providing support to First Responders and their families. In 2018, after the tragic shooting deaths of two Fredericton Police Officers and two civilians, friends and family members from Family and Industry came together to develop a Facility Dog program dedicated to First Responders to aid and assist with their mental health within the workplace.

Our dogs are specially trained to provide emotional support, comfort, and therapeutic assistance to First Responders and their families. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for First Responders to seek and receive assistance. We strive to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of those who serve our communities.

  • CTFFR Atlantic, under a very structured lifelong training program led and supported by our Master Trainer and Qualified Apprentice Trainers in each Province, will offer Certified Facility Dogs for Stations, Units and Facilities as well as Certified Service Dogs to empower our Veterans and First Responders with the confidence to gain back independence, life skills, and assist in the Medical needs each individually requires (Physical and Mental Health).

  • Our Mental Health programs will be Advised by Industry Experts, with the experience to treat the level of trauma a First Responder has endured.

  • The average Responder experiences 800+ traumatic events over a career.

  • First Responders and Veterans are 33% more likely to have PTSD than ANY other career worldwide. They are also 1/4 more likely to die by suicide versus ‘citizens’ in society due to the trauma they’ve seen. Our program(s) are offered at NO COST to our First Responders and Veterans.
